J.R.’s illustrious career has been defined by bringing bold, new ideas to life. His first? Deciding to leave his hometown in rural Iowa, where he bumped chairs at Loveland and graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor of science in business management.

 

After leadership stints at Snowbasin Ski Area and Sun Valley Resort, he took the helm as general manager at Arizona Snowbowl, where he revolutionized the entire operation during his 30+ year tenure. His passion for skiing and commitment to his community are unmistakable, and his accomplishments read like a who’s who of Flagstaff legends: Sam Walton Business Leader Award, Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce Business Achiever Award, founding member of the Northern Arizona Leadership Alliance and more.

 

J.R. also serves on the board of directors of the National Ski Areas Association.  Today, he continues to implement new ideas as the Chief Planning Officer for Mountain Capital Partners, driving the largest and most impactful capital projects across all of their resorts.
