Richard serves as the President and CEO of the Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona (ECoNA) which is the regional economic development organization representing a large majority of the Flagstaff area private and public entities with membership from large employers and businesses, small employers and businesses, educational institutions, city government, county government, social service non-profits, utility companies, financial institutions and banks, real estate/developer firms, chamber of commerce, and private and public foundations. ECoNA’s mission is to create jobs and prosperity for Northern Arizona.
Richard Bowen also serves Northern Arizona University as an Associate Vice President for Economic Development. His focus is advancing the university’s efforts in economic development and bio-medical initiatives. Richard recently served on the executive board creating the Phoenix Downtown Bio-Medical campus; an initiative of the three state universities to construct a modern, large-scale integrated medical education, research, clinical trial, and treatment campus.
Prior to Northern Arizona University Richard worked in the corporate sector for JMB Development and Realty in Chicago, Amfac Corporation in Denver and Flagstaff, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
